Soho Sundays

WHAT I'M WEARING:
Beyond Retro Tote, Urban Outfitters Vintage Hoodie, Rokit Vintage Bleach Shorts, H&M Shoes & Socks. Headband: Topshop.

Soho is always an amusing visit, especially after a long, tiring week. Frozen Yoghurt + Vintage Shops (I have been to ALL the major v-shops in L-town now, it has almost become a hobby), Soho also embraced copious amounts of caffeine & photo-snapping.

There is such an inspiring grunge-eccentricity that circles the Soho air. Not to mention, Beyond Retro has one of its better stores situated in the middle of all the hubbub; which always faithfully supplies me with some sort of sartorial snack. On a secondary note: any of you visiting the Camden or Covent Garden area: make sure you go to Rokit Vintage: they are delicioussss stores.

London really is the city for me. I simply cannot get enough. I suck the dregs out of each day by making sure I am always exploring something new, from a cafe to a vintage shop to a tiny alleyway to another sushi joint. There is so much to see and yet everytime I am here, I feel like I am not seeing enough. From a fashion point-of-view, I am constantly snapping street style-esque photography and jotting notes down. People here, esp. in the Shoreditch, Camden and Brick Lane areas have some seriously sweet style. Very refreshing. Durham seems dull, dowdy, boring and far, far away. Is it wrong to say I never want to go back? I am beginning to HATE being a student: I want to start doing something productive...like making some moolah. Now that would be nicee.

Have so much to share with all you wonderful readers. For the next week, will be posting almost daily, so keep updated. Have been interning at NOT JUST A LABEL this week. Great Experience. But more on that later..

Eurostar Paid For Paris

Sunday, July 26, 2009
Fashion Bloggers, Fashion Break, Fashion Paris...

Eurostar and We Are Social collaborated and invited a group of British Fashion Bloggers to Paris for a sartorial-filled daytrip. I was lucky enough to be one of the invitees, a few of the others included; Selina from Flying Saucer, Claire from Young Shields, Kit from Style Slicker & Carl from Inspire the Starling.

The Fash- Blog Pack

We left London at 6 am, travelled Business Class...ate breakfast on board and indulged in conversation that was literally dripping with fashion. It was fascinating to hear about other blogger's opinions & techniques. Arrival included casual shopping, including an awe-inspiring visit to Colette (I was lusting after a leather-sculpted Fendi corset for a good ten minutes).

Claire (I loved her vintage pseudo-blazer & amazing sunnies)

Selina: The Floral Jumpsuit, Luella Hair Bow & Betsey Johnson Bag: I have been following Flying Saucer for a while and I think I can confidently say that this outfit is def. iconic of all the wonderful things her blog stands for.

Amna & Carl. Amna calls this blazer her "disco jacket" and it forms part of the basis of her blog, which is evidently called, Disco Nap London. ( Great name, right? I LOVE!)

Lunch included salad & quiche lorraine at an uber hip resturant B4, while eating, an ex-Lacroix fashion designer, Marion Cointot gave a presentation: she is now in the process of launching her own line.

Me & Designer, Marion Cointot: she recognized me from Frassy, and told me she had read it on occasion, which made me smile.

Frassy,
Claire & Selina

After Lunch we wandered over to Le Musee de Belles Arts Decoratifs, to see a beautifully presented exhibit on Madeleine Vionnet, who was called "la puriste de la mode", she was the first seamstress to ever use the Bias Cut. It was all very inspiring.

Evening saw a relaxing wind-down; an hour long cruise along the seine, fuelled by copious amounts of sunshine and champagne. This was when the conversation begin to verge on giggly and incoherent. The sun, the bubbles, the Parisienne backdrop: it was pretty much perfection.

Frassy & Carl (shoutout to the stranger in the background that is knocking back the bubbly!)

Boat Seats: Carl, Frassy, Amna & Claire

Frassy & Selina

Kit of Style Slicker, looking artistic & pensive all at once.

Pulling the "Frassy" Pose: I apparently overly-pose in photos?!
Haha, its def. something I cannot deny..but this group posing session was def. drink-inspired. Oh and girl on the left: Lelia: she works at We Are Social, was our resident photographer for the day and is seriously the most awesome, fun girl ever. Love to her!

Lelia & Frassy...again.

Streetstyle blogger, Vanessa Jackman snapped some photos of me & my outfit. What a talented photographer! She's Australian, hugely charismatic & had some very interesting things to tell.
(Oh and case, you are wondering what I'm wearing: Vintage Blazer, Topshop Leggings, Boots: Urban Outfitters & Black Oversized Tee: H&M)

Train Journey back included huge doses of talk about French Vogue (most of us bought a copy), more champagne and some surpisingly delicious mousse cake. At St Pancras, we all said farewell and promised to email. Being the geek I am, I will no doubt be typing away to some of the great people I met. Special thanks to the super friendly women (Sarah, Sandrine, Camille & Lelia) who organized the trip, and ofcourse to Eurostar, who are now offering 59 pound return tickets to Paris! Get on it! "The night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand"
-Frederic Lawerence Knowles

What I'm Wearing:
Black Suede Harem Trousers: Zara, Vintage Denim Jacket, Grey Topshop Tee,
Alexander McQueen Scarf & Balenciaga Handbag

Photoshop is pretty much the most sensational software ever. I cannot wait until I have the programme on my laptop so I can go crazy with the collages.

Went to Mahiki in Mayfair last night. Burning the candle at both ends is my favourite way to burn.
I had an fabulous time: London night-life is not only addictive but also superior to any other I have experienced so far. And the music was greattt. My super hot, blogger bud: Jodie is coming to visit me in South Kensington on Monday and we are going to Boujis. Fun photos to ensue.

I have alot going on this week, a Net-a-Porter PR event tomorrow, a party in Canary Wharf , Friday night at Movida & full days of classes and what more, a really juicy weekend. Keep posted.

Officially having the time of my life: inner geek satisfied by day, wild nocturnal creature satisfied by night.
It is a wonderful London life.

London Town

Monday, July 20, 2009
"You find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life, for there is in London all that life can afford."

-Samuel Johnson

What I'm Wearing:
Customized YSL Dress, Vintage Blazer, Bleached Denim Studded Bag: Zara, Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (solestruck.com) & Hat: Modcloth.

Just a quick one: first day at London College of Fashion today. Plenty of fun learning the details of Adobe Photoshop. Lunch Break was spent browsing Topshop + H&M with a chai latte. Back to class then out for ravoli & salad. I never want to leave, the city is where I belong.

Mayfair night out tomorrow night.

Hello Bleach

Saturday, July 18, 2009
"Same Dirty Game, Burning Like A Flame"
-Dub Pistols

What I'm Wearing:
Frassy Rags "FAKE" Tee (Buy Here), D.I.Y Balmain-Bleach Job to an old pair of H&M skinnies, Topshop Zipper Heels & Bleached Denim Studded Bag: Zara

Have to say: this outfit is very Knighttcat inspired. The Bleach, graphic tee & studded bag remind me SO much of everything her blog embraces.

I leave for London tomorrow. Just about finished packing. Nightmare, is all I will say (but I am so PSYCHED!) Great packing advice from lovely Park& Cube though: thank youu. And priceless words of wisdom in ref. to travelling, from my insane Jenny over at Happy Because, via facebook chat: "I like you. Don't Die. For ME".

And to end, sometimes its really hard to stick to a diet. Being a little hungry for a couple days is tolerable, but after about a week and a half, your mind starts reverting to food: food you want to eat, food you ate in the past, favourite foods....and then it all gets a tad more difficult. However, I discovered the best distraction/diversion ever, and it only costs about 1.50: BLEACH. Take some old dark denim garments, lay them outside, pour bleach sporadically over the denim and watch fashion formations take place before your eyes. The sensation was what I would expect a pyromanic to feel; its mesmerizing, fascinating, exciting and no matter how you try, you just cannot stop! I literally went running back inside to dig up all my own denim and so I poured, poured and poured. Needless to say, it was a denim delight.

Or maybe I am just uber nerdy and find really common cleaning chemicals intriguing.
Either way, the bleach fumes have certainly gone to my head,
I best be off to bed.

"Happy, Happy Fashion- there is not much more to it than that"
-Marc Jacobs

What I'm Wearing:
Vintage Crop-Floral Tank & Denim Waistcoat. Topshop Acid Wash Shorts & Chopped H&M leggings into bicycle shorts.

To Do:
Pack for London instead of merely throwing heaps of clothes around my room in frustration. 20 kilo weight limit?! For five-fashion filled weeks?! NO! It is not possible. I can't do it. I just can't!

Paint my nails: Rub off Denim Blue & Whack on some Mint Green. Now Audrey, do it now!

Finish article for Dossier Journal Magazine: I'm such a perfectionist but the number of drafts is getting ridiculous now. I think I'm on Draft 15?! Is that neurotic?

Decide which question wins the Wildfoxx Tee: there are so many good ones and I'm awfully indecisive. Ahhh!

Get Rid of Dorky Sunburn & somehow acquire stylish Suntan in the next 48 hours.
Seriously, you guys should SEE my face: I look ridiculous: laughably red. And worst of all,
it hurtsss and has done so for the past 2 DAYS! When it comes to sun, I always, always get it wrong.

A Notebook Tuesday

Tuesday, July 14, 2009
"To this day I can recall that surreal sensation of expose, a disconnect that turns up in dreams, in art and is, I think an important thing to feel from time to time"

-Laura Jacobs, Vogue US journalist

Blazer Added:

Blazer Removed:

What I'm Wearing:
Vintage: Boyfriend Blazer, Lace Cami, Belt & Leather Clutch.
Oxford Heels-Primark.
Puff Skirt: (sent to me by the lovely Sarah, owner of indie brand: girlgang.)

I read in Grazia magazine today about a concept called "Shrinking", which is basically drinking and shopping simultaneously, thus causing your bank balance to start shrinking. The concept of this scares me, I am already a dangerously compulsive shopper when sober; I hate to think what I would be buying after some bubbly....

Feast your sartorial eyes on some good old Frassy inspiration:
"hmmm...yumm!"

Vintage shopping + Beach tomorrow: life is delicious right now.
