What I'm Wearing:
Topshop Skirt, Vintage Cropped Tee, H&M Plimsoles, Sunglasses: monikapolitan & the "i love urban outiftters" tote comes free with Elle UK July...I personalized it by expressing my love for Lagerfeld.
Sparkling suns, blankets on the grass near the river, precarious stacks of magazines EVERYWHERE and a lovely, health-inducing five carb-free days . All I crave is cold water and crunchy fruit & veg. Summer it seems is finally, finally here...
I LOVE Durham in these months, it is a location that seems to echo light-heartedness when the sun is summer yellow and not winter white. I love that the smell of suncream and bbq evades the air and how all I can hear from my window is the clappety clap of a dozen pairs of flip-flops.
I am off to get ready for nocturnal fun...

The Beret & Carrot-Sticks

Thursday, May 28, 2009

What I'm Wearing:
Vintage Leather Jacket, American Apparel Dress, Alexander McQueen Scarf, Zara: Beret,
Socks: Primark, Shoes: asos.com & finally, the clutch = vintage.

I am not sure why and how this beret ever reached Durham. It was something I wore everyday for what seemed forever, back when I was about 14. Completely enamoured by everything and anything Parisien, I guess I fancied myself a Francaise girl or at least embodying some of the quinessential chicness that they so effortlessly pull off. While I am not sure I look great in this hat now, looking back I am 100% positive I looked ridiculous at what was definetely a "fashion faux pas" era of my life. Lesson: monobrows and french-styled hats really just DON'T work...at least I have two eyebrows now...

Currently eating dinner: olives, a HUGEE bag of carrot sticks & cottage cheese. It doesn't sound appetizing but it surprisingly is! I have had the most relaxed day in the world, I drank tea, read Nylon and dozens of blog...and then I ran up and down some stairs for 45 minutes with Kanye West in my ears. It was good. Post-exam life is so luxuriantly stress-free.

I would just like to THANK YOU all again- all the emails, facebook messages etc. that have been sent my way after ahem. the flooding of comentary I received some time late last night...
Anonymous comments are banned on Frassy now. Sorry to those who actually had something constructive to say: drop me an email instead!

I have exciting news regarding modcloth.com (one of the sweetest online vintage stores). It will remain a secret for now, but I can share this: they featured me as their latest style inspiration: here.

Yee-ha

What I'm wearing: H&M black dress, Vintage Checkered Waistcoat,
French Connection Denim Jacket, Vintage Hand-Bag,
Sunglasses: Monikapolitan

I'm finally free. Yesterday= last exam. Today I leisurely slept in until 9, watched a Will and Grace re-run, ate sushi and have been reading my pile of magazines for the last two hours. And now I have 4 months of fashion filled fun in London & Stockholm & Home (in Spain) to look forward to. I am doing summer classes at London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins in July/August. I cannot wait!

Tonight I am going for Indian food (yum!); my final carb-fest, as from tomorrow, I am going on a ddeeetox. Anyone ever read "How The Rich Get Thin?" It is a rather unfortunate title-it makes the book sound intensely superficial, but it is actually a pretty fantastic diet : which is what my stomach will be following as from 8 am tomorrow morning.

"You sit away from me...
scratching away at blank lines of page,
the clock frantically ticks into rage,
and you spark my heart into glittery flames,
that melt away its dry, metallic cage.

(i wrote this on a scrap of paper during my three hour literature of the romantic period exam today; is it that Wordsworth inspires me to write things like this or am I just too easily distracted?)

The Suspender Look is always a precarious one; its important to be prudish from the waist up. With my legs entirely exposed in such a striking way, to avoid falling off into the sea of tacky, I paired my suspenders (bought on ebay for 3.00) with a high-necked black tunic from Topshop & a charity shop beige blazer that could be straight from grandma's closet. I guess appreciation of this rather daring sartorial whim depends on how fashion-forward your environment is, conventional/stuck-in-their way crowds would be plainly appalled while those more open to courageous dressing will def. see this look as fantastic. Either way, I know that I physically could not step out my door in Durham in this outfit, I really don't think people would see it in any other way than me being slutty. However, on the plus side, this look is def. hitting the streets of Soho or Covent Garden in London...perfect for a long summer night of dancing and free-spirited craziness.

Look of the day: inspired by my lovely blogger friend: Gala Gonzalez at amlul.com

Note: I never intended for Durham students to read my blog. It is not something I ever anticipated happening. For those of you who do and enjoy it, thank you for the emails, facebook messages and kind, lovely words. For those of you who don't enjoy it, keep reading; it widens my readership, meaning more money from my advertisers. And while you might click on frassy to mock me, your actually doing me a favour, so keep at it!

I have been doing a reasonable amount of style stalking this week, not only because its perfect procrasination but also because Gossip Girl ended (the Chuck & Blair scene?! god, my heart melted!) Anyway, here are my favourites: enjoyyy

Welcome to my Homemade Revision Hell...

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

What I'm Wearing: Zara Coat, Vintage Leather Satchel & Pink Polka Dot Tee, Knee-Socks & Shoes: Topshop, Skirt: H&M Divided.

Risking sounding completely melodramatic, my life kind of sucks right now. I hate exams and revision even more. Reading Macbeth at one in the morning is a dire situation to find yourself in...esp. when you find yourself wholly wired and trembling due to an excess in black coffee.
I was sooo glad Macbeth finallyyy died in the end and almost jealous that Lady Macbeth got to kill herself and didnt have to endure, unlike me, the tedium of the tragedy's remaining scenes. I do like Shakespeare, well at least I did...

I am studying at my house, all my housemates are in various studying environments (libraries, computer rooms etc.) all day, so I have the whole place to myself, making concentration a little easier...but in spite of this, I do have to clear my head from time to time. What better way than a walk by the river, and in knee-socks with a spot of flower-picking?
Yes, please.

Durham Cathedral

Oh, and welcome to my social life:

My notes are def. pretty to look at but...(is anyone else craving a STRONG cocktail or maybe the entirety of a bottle of wine?)

Ok, so, I might disappear from the blogger world for a couple days. Will be back soon, I promise. And this will be theee LAST time I mention revision on my blog- another promise, I WILL keep. Good Luck to all of you with exams, gcses, a levels, finals..or degree exams. It is NOT a fun time, but summer is only a couple weeks away! xxx

Marni,Blueberries & Haribo Hearts

Saturday, May 16, 2009
I reallyy want some MARNI heels...Karla at Karla's Closet wears hers so wonderfully,
my craving reaches new levels every time I click onto her blog.

Blueberries are probably my most favorite fruit ever.

Today I bought NYLON Magazine, purely because it said "Taylor Momsen" on the cover.
I really miss the days when she was fashion-crazy on Gossip Girl...now she's all goody two-shoes, which isn't half as much fun.

What I'm Wearing:
Vintage Glasses, Dress & Blazer. Pendants: Thrifted & ASOS

Met up for Friday evening drinks with the hilarious Frances, from Happy-Because. We went to this adorable place called Fabios, where we drank, talked about fashion & dissected other people's outfits. I think our friendship reached new levels: we exchanged weird phobias; her's being hot chocolate (?!), mine being closing shops.
Her best one-liner had to be" I'm a singing, dancing fashion blogger!"

GOOD times. And Here We Are...

I realise I look like some kind of mental patient with that fantastically HUGE bun and reallyy red lipstick, but I jumped from revision right into drinking- so I have an excuse for looking so CRAZY. Frances, had just gotten her hair-cut, I lovee it!

Finally some fun before I leaveee:

this is the kind of lame thing I do when I should be doing revision: taking photos of heart-shaped Haribo sweets.

Finally, this outfit looks like something Wordsworth would wear if 1) he was a female , 2) he was alive today
3) enjoyed the art of fashion, as well as poetry. Susie always shocks me, she wears the craziest things and they always look so phenomenal. STAMPED with Frassy Approval...fo sho!
