What I'm Wearing:
Vintage Leather Jacket, American Apparel Dress, Alexander McQueen Scarf, Zara: Beret,
Socks: Primark, Shoes: asos.com & finally, the clutch = vintage.
I am not sure why and how this beret ever reached Durham. It was something I wore everyday for what seemed forever, back when I was about 14. Completely enamoured by everything and anything Parisien, I guess I fancied myself a Francaise girl or at least embodying some of the quinessential chicness that they so effortlessly pull off. While I am not sure I look great in this hat now, looking back I am 100% positive I looked ridiculous at what was definetely a "fashion faux pas" era of my life. Lesson: monobrows and french-styled hats really just DON'T work...at least I have two eyebrows now...
Currently eating dinner: olives, a HUGEE bag of carrot sticks & cottage cheese. It doesn't sound appetizing but it surprisingly is! I have had the most relaxed day in the world, I drank tea, read Nylon and dozens of blog...and then I ran up and down some stairs for 45 minutes with Kanye West in my ears. It was good. Post-exam life is so luxuriantly stress-free.
I would just like to THANK YOU all again- all the emails, facebook messages etc. that have been sent my way after ahem. the flooding of comentary I received some time late last night...
Anonymous comments are banned on Frassy now. Sorry to those who actually had something constructive to say: drop me an email instead!
I have exciting news regarding modcloth.com (one of the sweetest online vintage stores). It will remain a secret for now, but I can share this: they featured me as their latest style inspiration: here.

I'm from here, so I have 2 birthrights... one is to hate Margaret Thatcher, the other is to hate Durham students. I'm not going to lie, I know people who have gone student hunting during freshers week... hahaha.
I love the beret. I wore one similar, but er, green. When I was a lot younger. There is no chance of me ever reinventing it.

LOVE the shoes, they are amazing.
Always love your sunglasses - does Monikapolitan ship to the UK?

I'd just like to stick up for some of the Durham students. Yes, some people are utter twats (like they are at every University in the country/the world) and some of those comments were completely rude and unneccesary. However, I do feel like we've all been lumped in the same boat. I (and I am not the only one) have once had an egg thrown out of a car at me by Durham locals on a night out. I'm not rowdy, I'm not rude and I do not act in any way to deserve to be branded by the locals and some of the people who read this blog.
Sometimes I like your outfits, sometimes I don't. There are a lot of people in Durham who wear Ugg boots and college hoodies (and I've definitely seen you in them as well), but there are also plenty of people who are 'individuals' doing their own thing. I certainly wouldn't say you're the only person in this city flying the flag for fashion.
Durham is one of the best universities in the country, and some of us feel lucky to be here. You have often painted a negative and biased picture of Durham and the students who go here, which has resulted in people saying "I'm glad I didn't go there now". But there are many good things about Durham too, and it's unfair for us all to be lumped together, just because a minority act like idiots.
I do enjoy reading your blog and I will continue to do so, it's just I find this stereotyping of all Durham students rather tiresome. Perhaps it isn't your intention, but it certainly is the impression you give to your readers. Of course you can say whatever you want and this is your space, but maybe you should think about some of the people you're pidgeonholing. I hope this falls into the category of 'constructive criticism'.
Good luck.
Charlotte.. have you really got nothing better to do than voice your boring opinions?
Audrey is entitled to HER opinion, this is HER blog and she can think & say whatever she likes about other people.
And give the readers of this blog some credit. We don't assume that EVERYONE who lives in Durham and goes to Uni there is a moron. We can work that out for ourselves.
I'm aware that there are students who aren't twats, I have friends who are students here. But I've heard the way that some students talk about 'locals' or 'natives' as some of them charmingly put it. I find it pretty vile. I find a lot of the male Durham students so unecessarily violent. I've had eggs chucked at me by students, and my dad (my DAD for god's sake, he's like 50) has had baked beans poured over him (and his Armani suit) by students from an upstairs window. I heard a girl talking about how she turned down a job in Jack Wills after finding out that they let 'locals' work there too.
And I'm sorry, it paints a bad picture, but the majority (or at least half) of the students I come into contact with (on sports teams and living near me), are generally completely up themselves. I genuinely feel bad for those of you who are decent people, because it's not really fair to stereotype, but the tossers don't seem to be such a minority.
I also agree that there is quite a scope of people expressing themselves through their clothes in Durham, but they're not exactly rife.
And my comment before was in response to Audrey's defence of the majority of Durham students, so feel free to have a go at me but not her this time.
I don't really want to be involved in this but I don't want it to come across that us locals hate ALL the students for no reason.
Hi Frances
I understand how you feel about some of the students, and obviously some incidents have been pretty horrible. I think it's a shame that this has had to come up on this blog when really it should be irrelevant, but some commenters have made it seem like it's Durham vs Frassy, which completely isn't true. Plenty of people in Durham like what Audrey is doing, just as plenty of students in Durham get on well with the Durham locals, and I'm sure it's the same the other way round. You're unlucky to have come across so many idiots, but I still don't believe it's how the majority of students act. My comment was more directed to what you said about people going 'fresher hunting', which to be honest disgusted me. Here we're talking about people who've just arrived in a new place, who haven't even had the chance to be an arse if that's what they're going to be come, and are having a scary experience. I don't find it funny. I personally make an effort to be nice to everyone I come across in Durham because I know the student's have a bad reputation.
I have no interest in personally attacking Audrey. I think she's obviously doing very well for herself and she's got a lot going for her. In many ways I do think she's inspirational. I didn't mean for my post to come across as an attack, rather as a defence. I hope you can understand that that isn't how I meant it.
Anyway, sorry for making this an issue here, I realise that Durham's social problems is not really related to this blog, nor is it anything that any of us are likely to be able to change.
Audrey, I hope you can seem the positive message I'm trying to get across. Again, this isn't an attack.
It's a shame we can't all get along!
Oh and Victoria, I'm sorry you find my opinion boring, but yes I do think the time is worthwhile to write about something I feel passionately about.
Charlotte: as Frances rightly pointed out, I don't group the whole of Durham into this awful, close-minded stereotype and my response to her comment about Durham Students was actually a defensive one. Hell, if I hated Durham THAT much I would'nt be here. I absolutely love all my AMAZING friends here, and my nights out and the beauty of this quaint town- its just I have had so many problems, esp. lately with people that know me directly- i.e mostly people at Collingwood College. And while I don't mean to stereotype those at Collingwood, (there are GREAT people too) it is primarily a community that thrives on cruelty and gossip fests- much of which I have been a victim of. So while I love Durham, I am disallusioned by the college I am affiliated with. It seems alot of people at Collingwood despise me for who I am. And I do not understand as to why?
I do take your critcism as consructive. and thank you, I love that people voice their opinions here- and esp. in an eloquent way that does involve swear words or explicitly sexual detail. So thank you for taking your time to voice how you feel. It means alot.

Victoria: monikapolitan does ship to the UK. and its soo cheap! xxxx
I'm glad that you can appreciate my point, and certainly I don't think that being openly rude is a constructive use of anyone's time. The college system does become very gossipy, I suppose because it's that much smaller of a community that it enables you to know who everyone is. In some senses it's a bit like being back at school. I have to say though that I love having a college system because of its familial nature, but then I haven't experienced your side of it. People who are big personalities are always gonna have lovers and haters, it's just the way it is. It's kind of hypocritical of me to say so because I know I'd struggle with it, but all you can really do is ignore it. People will get bored eventually.
Nah you look great in your beret frassy. Wow I cannot believe the commenter on the last post. Do their puny minds actually think they are getting the upperhand by staying up all night posting bitchy comments? I guess that some people slip past the net and get into university despite their minute intellect. Oh well, their loss eh? Your shoes are awesome by the way. xxxxx
PS. I have a lot of friends at Durham and they are all absolutely lovely so I'm not one of those commenters who thinks is Durham v Frassy. But I can totally relate to being the subject of gossip, having endured a high school education at an all-girls school in the UK. Frassy, you are gorgeous and have great individuality and those bitches don't have any real reason to pick on you. I suppose they just do so because they wouldn't have anything else to talk about otherwise. It's like being back at school again I suppose - I should know, I got picked on badly in my 1st year at school in the same sort of atmosphere/situation - it's what you get in a small community with a collegiate system (which my school had)
but anyhow... geisha digs you, so worry not :P xoxo
amazing scarf!
That hat DOES look effortlessly chic on you, promise!
and you have nice hairs. jealous.
You look great!

hmm I LOVE THE SHOES AND SOCKS COMBO! yummm xxx
You look fab !!!
Hi there. Male Collingwood Physics student here, who has been watching these comments with interest after the blog made it to 4chan. Yeah, yeah, fashion isn't our thing and quite frankly what I see here just makes me laugh.
Just a couple of things to mention:
Frances: 'Student hunting' doesn't sound a particularly nice hobby, but from what you say it sounds like you support it. I think I can safely say you have earned the title of 'primative local' if you engage or support these activities. I appreciate that students can be complete arseholes but please don't lump us in all together. I'm just echoing what Charlotte said here, but I think it needs to be said.
It should also be noted that Audrey symbolises the 'rah'. The sort of student who does look down on locals and perpetuates this rivalry. Whether she does or not I have no idea, but from her pretentious blog, manner of dress and general persona; she does appear to be of that sort.
C'mon guys, be honest here, most Durham students are twats, getting degrees on how to be even bigger twats. It's all bloody twatting mad.
love it, the sandals were on my wishlist at asos..love the clutch!!
Jeeesus, just deal with it.
I've never gone student hunting. It doesn't involve like, the raping or stabbing of students or anything.
I don't even know what it does involve, but most likely water bombs or eggs or something. The guys doing it have got a sense of humour and a sense of decency, and it's pretty much a tradition on the Avenue.
If people can't cope with that then they probably shouldn't be in the dirty dirty north in the first place.
love the sunglasses
Frances does seem like a bit of a cunt
I live on the avenue. Pranks with & from locals are a tradition, nobodys getting hurt...
this seems like a pointless argument.
I love your style! :)
awesome style!:)

My friend was walking home back to college during freshers week and a group of lads in their car chucked eggs out the window at her. I really don't think that that's something anyone should have to cope with especially during freshers week when you're away from home and getting used to a new city. Also what do you mean by if you can't cope with it then you shouldn't be in the 'dirty dirty north?' Are you saying that that sort of things is less likely to happen in the south? Another stereotype.
I think everyone is getting a little far from what this blog is here for- fashion and style- and something Frassy does so well.
Love the shades, love the skyscraper shoes, love the legs out. Peace xx
If you don't want to be a topic of gossip around Collingwood then don't be such a mean, slaggy, ho.
I hope you get deported from Durham.
You look like an ugly Jew.
I think you should spend some time at one of my holiday camps!
your room is soooooooo cool :P
those shoes are amazing..
I have been following this blog for quite some time now, and I have held back on posting a comment, but I have had it.
A blog is personal, and is a privileged for other people to read. If you don't like what you see, then just go away. No one is forcing you to read it, comment on it, or even have an opinion on it. Who are you people to think that you can just judge someone based on their interests, passions and hobbies? Don't you have something better to do than being so caddy?
They say jealousy is the best form of flattery, and I feel like this is the answer to all these ridiculous comments. At least Frassy is confident, original and does not care what people think. She is not here to get all of you random people's approval for anything.
PLEASE stop being so stupid, and trashing her posts with your lame comments. No one cares about what you think. If you believe you are that much better, start a blog and let us judge you on it; till then SHUT THE HELL UP, and let the rest of us enjoy a few moments of relaxation while we read a blog that is about someone who simply loves to express her interest in fashion, and is confident enough to share that with the rest of the world.
Wherever you are from, it doesn't matter. I'm from Paris, France, live in the United States, and it does not define who I am. So where she lives and goes to school does not define who she is.
Go waste your time on someone else's blog.
Frassy--keep it up; you are my fav blog out there ;)
I Love That Leather Jacket It's Gorgeous :)
