Everyone who knows me is aware of my love for Collage Art- every agenda, binder etc. I own is covered in my own frenzied collages (which usually play the role of portable artistic shrine to fashion). Anyway, so when I came across this in French Vogue (August 09 edition) my creative little eyes pretty much popped out of my skull with excitement. Donatella Versace has collaborated with German Collage Artist, Tim Roeloffs. His quirky collages are displayed on some of her dresses and bags, which accentuate (according to the designer herself) his sense of colour contrast and the 3-D effect of his images. This is "art-a-porter" at its best. Donatella, has a wonderful quote at the end of the article:
"Sous l'influence de Gianni, j'ai acquis la certitude que la mode devait absolument se nourrir et s'inspirer d'autres types de culture- la musique, le graphisme, l'architecture, etc. Pour moi, entre l'une et l'autre, la contamination est naturelle"
Translated : "Under Gianni's influence, I became certain that fashion should nourish and inspire other faucets of culture- music, drawing, architecture etc. For me, in each of these cultural aspects, contamination is natural. "

Ooooh so exciting! Great post :)
Those collages are stunning! The 3D illusion and the use of contrasting colours are definitely the first things that hit me when I looked at them.
